lit mag is a hidden gem in northview. the old advisor, ms. pope, told me about lit mag and i immediately loved the sound of creating something unique. i was already involved in northview’s newspaper, The Messenger, so it was a bit scary thinking about doing two journalism courses. i figured that since i adored journalism, it would expose me to the different aspects of it. this year i want to work on my writing. previously, i used to just write in big spurts and i hope that journaling and being emersed in a creative environment surrounded by amazing people will inspire me to write more often.

outside of litmag, i am involved in northview’s podcast, Point of View, which i am a design editor for. through our podcasts we bring inform students, host discussions, and even dabble in some cool pop culture reviews! while i’m not working on my two journalism courses, i am behind the scenes in northview’s theatre program. there i work in all different fields, from lights to sound.

  • my heart is filled

filled to the brim with people

    people I love

    people I hate

    people who I never see

    my heart is filled

    filled with love and devotion

for those I may not talk with

or for those who would rather not talk with me

    my heart is filled

    filled with compassion and caring

for those who I should leave in the past

or for those who left me behind

    my heart is filled

    but not for myself

for others, for everyone but myself

    my heart is filled

    shoving self love deep down

so deep it will never ever come up

there is no love for me

    yet my heart is filled

  • my eye instinctively goes to the small little window

the soft ding of the autofocus.

    click

my friend’s smiles appear on the screen

their arms laced around each other

“ok now a silly one!” i shout above the roar of their laughter

again i bring the camera up to my face

    the shutter solidifying the moment

to be posted on various instagram feeds

but there will be one face missing

    mine.

no one will say a thing about who took the picture

my smile hidden just behind the picture

    that’s how its always been

    me behind the camera

    the poet, never the muse

no one ever cares about the creator

when you think of mona lisa

you think of who she was

only then do you think of da vinci

I see my life through a viewfinder

    never looking towards a lense

  • i stare up at the stars

curious that you see the same ones as i do

    the soft twinkling lights

    against the dark inky sky

but what i truly wonder is

are you thinking of me, as i am of you?escription

as many of us picked up hobbies during quarantine, i started film photography. after trying to talk my parents into getting me a real camera, the countered with the “cheaper” option. (quick note - film photography is not cheap. film and developing can be 50$ alone..) so i began taking pictures and messing around. i even took my camera up to alaska and canada. eventually, i had saved up my own money and found a refurbished canon camera and took the jump. now i use both and love taking pictures of nature and any of my (willing) friends.

check out some of my photography in the galleries below! the first gallery is all my film photos, and the one below is all my digital photos!

  • zero! my dad is actually allergic to any kinds of fur so we’ve just never really had any pets. i do want a cat one day tho! (cats are better than dogs).

  • i absolutely hate tomatoes. and don’t think you can just pick them off and call it a day. because their juice and flavor seeps into everything it touches. its just a big no from me

  • the youngest! you could probably already tell that! another fun fact is that my two older brothers are 10 and 9 years apart from me. so im the most definitely the baby of the family

  • when i was in 7th grade, i lived in valenica, spain!

  • valorant. before you say anything, i’m not the best at it, but its fun to play every now and then when i get time!
